Software as a Service is the main delivery mode for Cross Library solutions. The customer has the power of a full fledged customised local application without any complication connected to installation, maintenance, licensing etc. Scalability, continuity and responsiveness of the services are guaranteed by the fact that they are hosted at Amazon WS. It is just a matter of hours to multiply the computational power reserved to a single service. The solutions we host in a service modality are the following:
  • CLSTranslate: it is a service of plain query translation: users requests are issued to our query specialized translation service, and the corresponding query in the languages of interest is returned. So, basically it takes in input a string plus (possibly) a language code and returns a structured object representing possible alternative translations, together with their quality and confidence index. It is an optimal solution for customers that already have their own search engine and are planning to provide their users with the cross-lingual experience without changing it.
  • CLSSearch: It is a service of multilingual search: user requests are issued to our servers, which return a list of hits, together with the information to be displayed on the hits page. The service is provided in two steps: in the first phase our crawler downloads and indexes data and metadata contained in the repository, preferably via OAI-PMH protocol. When the end user performs a search, her request is sent to our servers which retrieve relevant hits in all required languages. The rendering of these hits is normally delegated to the customer's application. It is an optimal solution for customers that want to enhance the search capabilities over their repository.
  • CLSAccess: it is a complete search solution hosted on our server: users will experience the easiest way of finding the information they are interested in. The service both for index and search capabilities is completely hosted on our servers. Links of retrieved hits will of course point to the customer hosting the repository. It is an optimal solution for customers who want to add search capabilities without any integration effort or for federation of digital libraries.
